I have been reading Kathryn Lofton’s Consuming Religion with great interest on the intersections, parallels, etc., between business, work, patterns of consumption, and religion. I found this quote – in a chapter on the religion and the cubicle – quite emblematic and worth meditation:
Corporation is just another word for sect. And sects produce any number of creeds, codes, and ideas about committed community.
