I began teaching my Introduction to Biblical Studies course this year at IWU. I am very excited to return to Blo-No and to teach right in my wheelhouse.
One of the things I emphasize in my course is that the Bible is weird. There are parts of it – often parts we simply skim over or ignore – that are just plain disorienting. I encourage my students to bring those strange, disorienting passages to the class’s attention, so that we can try to figure them out.
I want to do the same here: if there is a passage in the Bible that you – whether scholar, student, clergy, laity, or interested public – find difficult, let’s see if we can decipher it together.
